Why families choose Rundil

Why Rundil is the fairest tutoring price in Switzerland

A low headline rate is easy to advertise and expensive to actually use. The cheapest marketplace hour hides the cost of finding, vetting and replacing the tutor yourself; the cheapest subscription hides a contract that outlives the reason you signed up. Rundil publishes three flat rates, charges the same whether the tutor is at your table or on a screen, adds nothing on top but 8.1% VAT — and stands behind every hour with a full refund, so the price is never a gamble.

EnglishDeutschFrançais
Rundil tutor working one-to-one with a student during an at-home tutoring session in Switzerland

One rate, at home or online

The same hourly price whether the tutor sits at your kitchen table in Baar or joins from a screen in Lugano. No online discount, no travel surcharge, and you can switch between the two at any time at no change in price.

No hidden fees, ever

No registration fee, no minimum term, no charge for the study plan, the marked work or the weekly written update. The only thing added to the hourly rate is 8.1% Swiss VAT, and it is shown on every invoice.

Pay your way — Plan or Flexi

The Tutoring Plan bills monthly in advance with no admin fee, for a settled weekly subject. Flexi charges only for the hours actually completed, for families adding sessions around mocks and exams. Move between them whenever it suits.

Refundable, so price is never a gamble

Any session, at any tier, is refundable in full if the student asks — first lesson or last. If a tutor is not the right fit going forward, we reassign at no cost. You are never paying to find out whether it works.

The people behind the price

The tutors your CHF 89 an hour actually buys

Every Rundil tutor is degree-qualified, employed by us and vetted before a first assignment — not a gig-economy profile you vet yourself. Between them: ETH Zürich, EPFL, the University of Basel and the University of Zürich. That is what the rate pays for, and it is the same rate whatever they teach.

Female Maths tutor Sophie working with a student in a bright Swiss study room

Sophie

Maths tutor — primary to IB Higher Level · Zürich

MSc Mathematics, ETH Zürich · 8+ years teaching and tutoring across the Swiss and international curricula

Sophie teaches maths from lower-secondary foundations right up to IB Higher Level and A-Level, and is the tutor families ask for when confidence has slipped. She is unusually good at the part most tutors skip: showing a student where the marks actually live, so revision stops being re-reading and starts being practice that counts. Booked at the Experienced tier — CHF 89 an hour, the same at home in Zürich or online across the country.

Male Physics and Maths tutor Daniel providing private tuition in Zug

Daniel

Physics & Maths tutor — all levels · Zug

MSc Applied Physics, ETH Zürich · 9+ years of international-school teaching and one-to-one tutoring

Daniel covers physics and maths together, which matters more than it sounds: most physics marks are lost in the algebra, not the physics. He works through forces, waves, electricity and the rest with the calculation habits attached, and prepares students properly for the practical papers schools often leave until far too late. Booked at CHF 89 an hour, or CHF 99 for exam-critical final-year work.

Female Chemistry and Biology tutor Amira teaching in a modern Swiss home

Amira

Chemistry & Biology tutor — to IB & A-Level · Basel

PhD Molecular Biology, University of Basel · MSc Biochemistry · 8+ years tutoring the sciences

Amira is the tutor families ask for when the sheer volume of content is the problem: moles and titration, organic chemistry, genetics, transport and respiration, taught as a small number of ideas rather than hundreds of pages. Every topic ends with an exam-style question and a real mark. Booked at the Experienced tier, CHF 89 an hour — the same price whether she is in the room or on screen.

Male Physics and Computer Science tutor Matteo explaining a problem to a student in Zürich

Matteo

Physics & Computer Science tutor · Zürich

MSc Physics, EPFL · 10+ years of teaching across IGCSE, IB and A-Level

Matteo has taught the same students through one course and out into the next, so he builds the habits the next stage will assume rather than the ones that scrape a grade now. He covers the full physics syllabus and Computer Science, and is particularly effective with students who can do the physics verbally but freeze at the multi-step written question. Booked at CHF 89 an hour, at home or online for the same rate.

Lukas

Maths tutor & the Swiss curriculum · Zürich

MSc Mathematics, University of Zürich · Lehrdiplom für Maturitätsschulen · 11+ years teaching the Swiss curriculum

Lukas is a qualified Swiss secondary teacher, which makes him the obvious assignment for families moving a child between the Swiss and international systems, or preparing for the Gymi entrance and the Matura. He teaches in English or German, whichever gets the maths across faster. Booked at CHF 89 an hour — the standard rate for the Swiss curriculum, exactly as for every other.

Male English and Humanities tutor Thomas providing private tuition in Zürich

Thomas

English Language, Literature & Humanities · Enge, Zürich

Former international-school English teacher · examiner-level understanding of the assessment criteria

Thomas teaches English Language and Literature and the essay-based humanities, where the same problem recurs: strong ideas, poorly aimed at what the paper actually asks. He teaches directed writing, comparison and source questions by starting from the criteria and working backwards, and is patient with students writing excellent essays in their second or third language. Booked at the Experienced tier, CHF 89 an hour.

Every tutor is individually interviewed, background-checked and assigned to the subjects they actually teach. You are never asked to browse profiles and guess — tell us the subject, the level and the year group, and we assign the specialist, typically within 48 to 72 hours. We never promise a named tutor before the assignment is confirmed.

The Rundil difference

Every session is refundable. Even at CHF 99 an hour.

A free trial lesson is a promise that expires exactly when it starts to matter. Families do not need protecting in week one — they need it in the weeks before the exam, when there is no time left to fix a bad assignment. So ours never expires. If a session falls short in week two or week sixty, at any tier, the student asks and it is refunded in full. That is the difference between a price and a gamble.

100%

CHF 79, 89 or 99 — the guarantee covers every session, all the way to the exam, and does not run out when the pressure starts.
Reassignment at no cost

What your money buys

What's included in every Rundil hour

Whatever the tier, the 1.5-hour structure is the same — find what the last paper actually cost, teach it properly, then put it back under exam conditions before the student leaves. And everything around the session is included in the price, never billed as an extra.

Tutoring session in Switzerland with past papers and a mark scheme on the table

Diagnose

  • Read the last mock or piece of work, question by question
  • Separate lost content from lost technique
  • Check it against the syllabus the exam board publishes
  • Say plainly what the right level and target is

Teach

  • Rebuild the concept from where it broke
  • Teach state, describe, explain as three different jobs
  • Show the working that earns method marks
  • Leave notes the student can revise from later

Prove it

  • Real questions from the right board and level
  • Marked to the published mark scheme, marks written on
  • Timed, because most exams punish slow more than wrong
  • Student answers one unaided before the end
And between the sessions — at no extra charge

The hour in the room is the product, but it is not all of it. Three things arrive whether you ask for them or not, and none of them is billed as an add-on.

A study plan, written down

  • Written after the first session, not promised before it
  • Topics in order, against the board's published syllabus
  • Built around your school's mock and exam dates
  • Rewritten when the mocks say something different

Marked papers, back to you

  • Every past paper marked to the published mark scheme
  • Returned with the marks written on, not a grade
  • Where the marks went, question by question
  • Yours to keep — the evidence, not our word for it

A weekly update, to you

  • What was covered and what it scored, every week
  • Written to you, not left with the student
  • Says plainly when something is not working yet
  • No chasing, and nothing to log into

The real cost

What tutoring in Switzerland actually costs in 2026

Private tuition in Switzerland is advertised from roughly CHF 33 an hour on a marketplace to CHF 260 at the elite end. Rundil sits deliberately in the middle of the market at CHF 79–99. The useful question is never what an hour costs — it is how many hours it takes, and whether the price you saw is the price you pay.

Cheaper per hour is not cheaper per outcome. Twenty hours with a tutor you found and managed yourself can cost less than eight with one assigned to the job — right up until the mock comes back unchanged. Rundil sits mid-band on purpose: enough to employ real, degree-qualified teachers, little enough that the price is honest, and every hour refundable so you are never paying to find out whether it works.
Simple from the start

How pricing works with Rundil

Three steps from booking form to a tutor at your kitchen table — or on screen — usually inside 48 to 72 hours. You are only ever charged from your first real session.

1

Book online

Tell us the subject, the level and the year group on the booking form. Two minutes, no card and no registration fee. Not sure which tier? Ask us on WhatsApp first.

2

We assign your tutor

We assign a degree-qualified tutor at CHF 89 an hour — or CHF 99 for exam-critical work — typically within 48 to 72 hours, and confirm the name and schedule by WhatsApp. Faster is sometimes possible; we never promise it.

3

Choose Plan or Flexi

Bill monthly in advance on the Tutoring Plan with no admin fee, or pay only for completed hours on Flexi. Either way, every session is refundable and there is nothing locking you in.

Who these prices are for

Who books tutoring at these prices

Four very different situations, one shared reason for looking at the price first: everyone wants to know exactly what they are committing to before they start, and none of them wants a surprise on the invoice.

Families comparing quotes

You have a marketplace price, an agency price and a subscription price on the table and cannot compare them. Ours is one flat rate with nothing hidden underneath it — so you can actually work out what a term costs before you commit.

Long-term weekly support

A settled weekly subject through the year, billed predictably. The Tutoring Plan charges monthly in advance with no admin fee, so the cost is the same every month and there is nothing to reconcile.

Short intensive bursts

Extra sessions around the mocks or in the run-up to exams, then nothing afterwards. Flexi charges only for the hours actually completed — add them when you need them, stop the week after the last paper.

Conversational language learners

Everyday spoken German, French or Spanish for work or life in Switzerland — not exam preparation. Priced at the separate Conversational tier of CHF 79 an hour, the same at home or online.

Guarantee & flexibility

Refundable, reassignable & never locked in

Two promises written down rather than implied — because the two things families fear about tutoring prices are paying for hours that changed nothing, and being tied to a tutor they cannot get away from in the term that counts.

The satisfaction guarantee

A full refund is available after any session if the student requests it. No conditions, no asterisks, and not limited to the first lesson — every session, at every tier, right through to the exam itself. It applies across Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands, at CHF 79, 89 or 99. If the tutor is not the right fit going forward, we reassign at no cost and with no friction.

Good to know

Tutoring prices in Switzerland: your questions answered

How much does a private tutor cost in Switzerland?
Rundil charges three flat hourly rates, all excl. 8.1% MwSt: CHF 79/hr for conversational languages, CHF 89/hr for our Experienced academic tutors — the tier almost every family books — and CHF 99/hr for the Most Accomplished. A recommended 1.5-hour session is therefore CHF 118.50, CHF 133.50 or CHF 148.50 before VAT. Across the wider market, tuition runs from roughly CHF 33 an hour on a marketplace to CHF 260 at the elite end.
What is the difference between the three tiers?
The tier reflects the tutor's qualification and how demanding the work is. Conversational Languages (CHF 79/hr) is for everyday spoken language, not exams. Experienced (CHF 89/hr) covers the full academic curriculum at every level and is what almost every family books. Most Accomplished (CHF 99/hr) is assigned for exam-critical work, students with an access arrangement such as extra time, or those needing additional learning support. You can mix tiers across subjects.
Is VAT included in the price?
No. The CHF 79, 89 and 99 rates are quoted excl. 8.1% Swiss VAT (MwSt), which is added to every invoice. Including VAT, a 1.5-hour Experienced session is CHF 144.31 and a Most Accomplished session is CHF 160.53. The instant estimate above shows the weekly figure with VAT already included.
Is online tutoring cheaper than at-home tutoring?
No, and deliberately so. At-home and online sessions are priced identically, because the tutor and the preparation are identical. There is no online discount and no travel surcharge, and you can switch between the two at any time at no change in price — which matters in Switzerland, where online is often the only way to reach a genuine specialist from a smaller canton.
Do you offer packages or bulk discounts?
We keep pricing simple and honest rather than dressing it up as a discount: one flat rate per tier, with no registration fee, no minimum term and no admin fee on the Tutoring Plan. Instead of pushing a large upfront package, we let you scale hours up around exams and down afterwards, and we refund any session that falls short — which protects your money more reliably than a bundle you have already paid for.
Are there any hidden or extra fees?
None. There is no registration fee, no minimum term and no charge for the study plan, the marked work or the weekly written update — all of that is included in the hourly rate. The only thing added is 8.1% Swiss VAT, shown on every invoice. On the Tutoring Plan there is no admin fee at all; on Flexi a 12% admin fee applies in exchange for paying only for the hours you actually use.
How does billing work — the Plan versus Flexi?
Two options. The Tutoring Plan is billed monthly in advance with no admin fee, for a settled weekly subject — a predictable bill every month. Flexi is billed at the end of the month with a 12% admin fee, and you pay only for the hours actually completed — ideal for adding sessions around mocks and exams. You can move between them whenever it suits, and stop either at any time.
What is the refund policy?
A full refund is available after any session if requested by the student. No conditions, no asterisks, and not limited to the first lesson — it covers every session, at every tier, right through to the exam itself. If the fit is not right going forward, we reassign the tutor at no cost. It is the fairest way we know to make the price a genuine promise rather than a gamble.
Can I cancel or reschedule a session?
Yes. Cancellation is free until 17:00 the day before the session, and anything cancelled or moved before that cut-off costs nothing — useful in a mock week or around a school trip. On Flexi you only ever pay for the hours actually completed.
Do IB or A-Level lessons cost more than other levels?
No. The rate follows the tutor and how demanding the work is, never the curriculum. IB Higher Level is charged the same as the Swiss Matura, and A-Level the same as IGCSE — CHF 89 an hour at the Experienced tier, or CHF 99 for exam-critical work and access arrangements. See IB tutoring in Switzerland and A-Level tutoring in Switzerland.
How long is a session, and what does one cost?
We recommend 1.5 hours per subject per session — long enough to diagnose the gap, teach the concept, and put it back under exam conditions in the same sitting. At CHF 89 an hour that is CHF 133.50 excl. VAT (CHF 118.50 at the Conversational tier, CHF 148.50 at Most Accomplished). Two separate 1-hour sessions are a workable fallback where a timetable demands it.
Is there a registration fee or a minimum term?
Neither. There is no registration fee to start and no minimum contract period — run a single session or a weekly one through the whole year, and stop the week after the last exam with nothing to cancel. You are only ever charged from your first real session.
Do prices change by city or how far the tutor travels?
No. The rate is the same in every city and canton, and there is no travel surcharge — CHF 89 an hour whether the tutor is in Zürich, Geneva, Basel or joining online from another canton. At-home availability depends on your postcode, which you can confirm on the booking form; the price does not.
How do I pay, and when am I first charged?
There is no card required to book and no registration fee, so you are only charged from your first real session. On the Tutoring Plan you are billed monthly in advance; on Flexi you are billed at the end of the month for the hours completed. Invoices show the hourly rate, the hours and the 8.1% VAT separately, so nothing is hidden.
Why is Rundil priced above the cheapest marketplaces?
Because CHF 79–99 buys something the cheapest hour does not: a degree-qualified tutor employed and vetted by us, assigned to the job so you are not vetting and replacing people yourself, with the study plan, marked work and weekly update included — and every session refundable. We sit deliberately mid-band: enough to employ real teachers, little enough that the price is honest. Cheaper per hour is rarely cheaper per outcome.
Which areas of Switzerland do you cover, and at what price?
Tutoring is available Switzerland-wide at the same rate. At-home sessions run across Zürich, Zug, Geneva, Lausanne and Vaud, and Basel and their surrounding cantons, and online tutoring reaches every canton at the same price — Bern, Lucerne, St. Gallen, Ticino, Graubünden and Uri included. Add your postcode on the booking form to confirm at-home availability; the price is identical either way.

Tutoring prices in Switzerland, explained in full

Rundil provides one-to-one tutoring across Switzerland at three flat hourly rates — CHF 79 for conversational languages, CHF 89 for our Experienced academic tutors, and CHF 99 for the Most Accomplished — all excl. 8.1% MwSt, at home in Zürich, Zug, Geneva, Lausanne and Basel, and online in every canton. Tutoring in Switzerland is quoted across an enormous spread: roughly CHF 33 an hour on a marketplace, CHF 33–65 on a subscription platform tied to a contract, and CHF 67 up to CHF 260 at the specialist agencies. Rundil sits deliberately in the middle — high enough to employ real, degree-qualified teachers, low enough that the number is honest.

The point of publishing a flat rate is that the price you see is the price you pay. There is no registration fee, no minimum term, and no charge for the study plan, the marked papers or the weekly written update that come with every booking. The only addition is 8.1% Swiss VAT, shown separately on every invoice. A recommended 1.5-hour session works out at CHF 133.50 excl. VAT at the Experienced tier, or CHF 144.31 with VAT included — and you can see the weekly figure, VAT already added, in the estimate at the top of this page.

Priced the same at home and online — and refundable either way

Rundil charges the same rate whether the tutor sits at your kitchen table in Baar or joins from a screen in Lugano. There is no online discount and no travel surcharge, and you can switch between the two at any time at no change in price. Because good specialists are spread thinly across the cantons, online is frequently the only way to reach a genuine subject expert — so it would be perverse to charge more, or less, for it. And whichever you choose, every session is refundable in full if the student asks: not the first lesson, any lesson, right through to the exam. It is a deliberately expensive promise, and the only honest way to say the price is worth it.

Two ways to pay, and nothing locking you in

You choose how you are billed. The Tutoring Plan bills monthly in advance with no admin fee, for a settled weekly subject — a predictable cost you can budget around. Flexi bills at the end of the month with a 12% admin fee and charges only for the hours actually completed, for families adding sessions around mocks and exams. Move between them whenever it suits, scale hours up before the papers and down afterwards, and stop the week after the last one with nothing to cancel. Free cancellation runs until 17:00 the day before. The tutoring is the product; everything else stays out of the way.
