Why families choose Rundil

Why families choose Rundil for tutoring in Switzerland

Switzerland asks more of a tutor than almost anywhere else. In one classroom you can find a Gymi candidate, an IB Diploma student and an IGCSE cohort, each examined against a different standard, often in a language that is not the family's first. A tutor who merely knows the subject is not enough — they have to know the assessment. Rundil assigns tutors against the exact curriculum and exam board your child sits, then stands behind every hour with a full refund if it falls short.

Assigned, not browsed

You never scroll through profiles hoping to guess well. Tell us the curriculum, subject and year group, and we assign the specialist — typically within 48 to 72 hours.

Refundable, every session

If a session falls short, the student asks and we refund it in full. Not just the first lesson, not with conditions attached — any session, all year.

At home or online, one price

Most providers are one or the other, and charge differently for each. We charge CHF 79, 89 or 99 either way, so you choose on your week — not your wallet.

No subscription trap

No registration fee, no minimum term, nothing to cancel. Add hours before an exam window, pause over the summer, stop entirely — none of it costs you anything.

The people who teach

Meet the tutors behind Rundil Tutoring Switzerland

Every Rundil tutor is degree-qualified and teaches one curriculum properly rather than five approximately. Between them: ETH Zürich, EPFL, the University of Basel and the University of Zürich — and, for the Swiss system, a Lehrdiplom für Maturitätsschulen.

The Rundil difference

Every session is refundable. Every single one.

Most tutoring companies protect you for one trial lesson, then the risk quietly becomes yours. Ours never moves. If a session falls short on any given Tuesday in March, the student asks and it is refunded in full — no conditions, no approval, no awkward conversation.

What happens in every Rundil tutoring session

The 1.5-hour structure is the same whether your child is sitting IB Chemistry HL in Zürich or the Gymi entrance exam in Zug — diagnose the gap, teach it properly, then prove it under exam conditions.

German tutoring session in Switzerland for IB and international school students

Diagnose

  • Find the real gap, not the reported one
  • Check it against the syllabus, not a guess
  • Read the school's own feedback and marks
  • Agree what this session must fix

Teach

  • Rebuild the concept from where it broke
  • Use the command terms the examiner uses
  • Work in the student's stronger language
  • Leave notes the student can actually reuse

Prove it

  • Past-paper questions at exam level
  • Marked to the real mark scheme
  • Timed, so speed stops being the enemy
  • Student solves one unaided before the end

The real cost

The true cost of a private tutor in Switzerland

Swiss tutoring runs from roughly CHF 28 an hour on a marketplace to CHF 260 with an elite agency. We sit deliberately in the upper-middle — and the honest question is not who is cheapest per hour, but who is cheapest per grade.

Cheaper per hour is not cheaper per grade. Ten hours with a tutor who has never marked an IB Internal Assessment costs less than six hours with one who has — right up until results day. We would rather you paid for fewer, better hours, which is exactly why every one of ours is refundable.
Simple from the start

How tutoring in Switzerland works with Rundil

Three steps from enquiry to a tutor at your kitchen table — or on screen — usually inside 48 to 72 hours.

1

Book online

Tell us the curriculum, subject, year group and preferred rhythm on the booking form. It takes about two minutes.

2

We assign your tutor

We assign a degree-qualified specialist for that exact exam board — typically within 48–72 hours — and confirm the name and schedule by WhatsApp.

3

Diagnose, then progress

Session one finds the real gap. From there it is teach, practise, prove — with every session refundable if it falls short.

Built around your family

Who we tutor across Switzerland

Four very different families, one common problem: the school moves at the pace of thirty children, and yours needs it to move at the pace of one.

International-school families

IB, MYP, IGCSE or A-Levels at a school in Zürich, Zug, Geneva or Basel. You need a tutor who knows the exam board and the Internal Assessment deadlines — not a generalist.

English speakers in the Swiss system

Your child is heading for the Gymi entrance exam or the Matura, and you cannot help with the German homework. We teach in English and prepare for a German exam.

Students in an exam window

Mocks went badly and the real papers are eight weeks out. Add sessions now, drop them in June — no subscription is holding you afterwards.

University & adult learners

A degree module that will not click, a professional qualification, or conversational German for the life you actually live here. Same tutors, same guarantee.

Tutoring in Switzerland: your questions answered

How much does tutoring in Switzerland cost?
Rundil tutoring in Switzerland costs CHF 79, 89 or 99 per hour excl. 8.1% VAT, depending on the tier of tutor. Conversational Languages is CHF 79, Experienced Tutors CHF 89, and Most Accomplished Tutors CHF 99. A standard 1.5-hour session is therefore CHF 118.50–148.50 before VAT. At-home and online sessions cost exactly the same.
Which tier does my child need?
Conversational Languages (CHF 79/hr) is practical spoken-language tuition for everyday use. Experienced Tutors (CHF 89/hr) cover IB, MYP, IGCSE, A-Levels, Swiss Matura, Gymi preparation, maths, sciences and humanities. Most Accomplished Tutors (CHF 99/hr) handle advanced work — IB Higher Level, Matura examinations and other high-stakes preparation. Many families mix tiers across different subjects.
Is online tutoring cheaper than at-home tutoring?
No — and deliberately so. At-home and online sessions are priced identically, because the tutor and the preparation are identical. You choose whichever suits your week, and you can switch between the two at any time without a price change.
What is the Rundil satisfaction guarantee?
A full refund is available after any session if requested by the student. There are no conditions and no asterisks, and it applies to every session — not only the first. If the fit is not right going forward, we reassign the tutor at no cost.
How quickly is a tutor assigned?
Typically within 48 to 72 hours of your booking form. Faster is sometimes possible but is never guaranteed. Once your tutor is assigned we confirm the name, schedule and contact details by WhatsApp.
How long should a tutoring session be?
We recommend 1.5 hours per subject per session. That length allows a tutor to diagnose the gap, teach the concept, and then practise it at exam level within the same session — so the student proves they can do it before they leave. Two separate 1-hour sessions can be used as a fallback where a schedule demands it.
Can I cancel or reschedule a session?
Yes. Cancellation is free until 17:00 the day before the session, and sessions cancelled or rescheduled before that cut-off incur no charge. On Flexi you only pay for hours actually completed.
Which curricula do you cover in Switzerland?
IB Diploma Programme, IB Middle Years Programme, IGCSE, A-Levels, Swiss Matura and Gymi entrance preparation, plus national and international curricula, university subjects and adult learners. All subjects are covered.
What's the difference between the Tutoring Plan and Flexi?
The Plan is billed monthly in advance with no admin fee. Flexi is billed at the end of the month on the hours actually taken, with a 12% admin fee because it is handled manually. Both give access to all tutors, include itemised billing, and can be stopped at any time.
Are your tutors qualified?
Every tutor Rundil assigns is degree-qualified and experienced in one-to-one teaching, and is vetted against the specific curriculum and exam board your child is studying — rather than the subject in general. We never promise a named tutor before the assignment is confirmed.
What if the tutor isn't the right fit?
We reassign without friction and at no cost. You do not need to justify the request or have an awkward conversation with the tutor — and the session you were unhappy with is refundable in full under the satisfaction guarantee.
Do you tutor Gymi and Swiss Matura students in English?
Yes. We support English-speaking families whose children sit the Gymi entrance examination (Aufnahmeprüfung) or the Swiss Matura, with tutors who know the cantonal requirements and can teach the content in English while preparing the student to be examined in German. Both the Langgymnasium and Kurzgymnasium tracks are covered.
Do you tutor university students and adults?
Yes. Rundil covers university subjects and adult learners alongside school curricula — including exam retakes, professional qualifications, and conversational language tuition at the CHF 79/hr tier.
Is there a minimum commitment or registration fee?
No. There is no subscription, no registration fee and no long-term contract. You can adjust the number of hours, pause during holidays, or stop at any time.
Which areas of Switzerland do you cover?
Tutoring is available Switzerland-wide. At-home sessions run across Zürich, Zug, Geneva, Lausanne, Basel and Bern and their surrounding cantons, and online tutoring reaches every Swiss canton at the same price. Add your postcode on the booking form to confirm at-home availability in your area.

Tutoring in Switzerland, without the guesswork

Rundil provides one-to-one tutoring across Switzerland for international-school families, English-speaking families in the Swiss public system, university students and adult learners. The difficulty in this country is rarely finding someone clever — it is finding someone who knows which of Switzerland's many parallel systems your child is actually being marked against. An IB Diploma candidate in Zürich, an IGCSE cohort in Basel and a Gymi candidate in Zug are three completely different jobs, and a tutor who treats them as one subject will be pleasant, expensive and ineffective.

So we do the identifying for you. You tell us the school, the curriculum, the subject and the year group; we assign a degree-qualified specialist for that exact exam board, typically within 48 to 72 hours, and confirm the name and schedule by WhatsApp. There is no gallery of profiles to sift, no trial-and-error, and no fee for changing your mind.

Why every session is refundable

A wasted tutoring hour is not really a financial problem. It is a fifteen-year-old concluding, quietly, that they are bad at chemistry — and that costs far more than CHF 89. That is why the Rundil satisfaction guarantee is unconditional and permanent: a full refund is available after any session if the student asks, not only the first, and with no approval process. It is a deliberately expensive promise to make, and it is the most honest way we know to say that we would rather sell you six good hours than sixteen mediocre ones.

Priced the same at home and online — and nothing to cancel

Rundil charges CHF 79, 89 or 99 per hour excl. 8.1% MwSt whether the tutor sits at your kitchen table in Seefeld or joins from a screen in Lugano, because the preparation behind the hour does not change. There is no subscription, no registration fee and no minimum term: add hours in the eight weeks before the papers, pause them over the summer, stop altogether in July. Free cancellation runs until 17:00 the day before any session, and on Flexi you pay only for the hours actually completed. Families across Zürich, Zug, Geneva, Lausanne, Basel and Bern choose Rundil because the good tutoring is the point — and everything else stays out of the way.

The right tutor, or your money back.

Degree-qualified specialists for IB, IGCSE, A-Level, Matura and Gymi — from CHF 79/h, at home or online for the same price, assigned in 48–72 hours. Every session refundable, nothing to cancel.
